Stories, anecdotes and musings

By Gordon on 7/27/2007
Okay, maybe not ninjas, but Jacob, Aaron and I all tested for belts this evening.  Aaron earned his yellow belt and Jacob and I earned our green belts.  Jacob has been taking Tae Kwan Do lessons since last October, I started in December and Aaron started 2 months ago.

Family Tree
By Gordon on 7/23/2007

I've been thinking about my family tree alot for the past several weeks.  The family tree used to be "on the web", but it was running from one of my workstations and its availability was not always guaranteed.  Consequently, I removed it from this website.

However, a visit to my cousing Julie in Dallas got me thinking again about the research that Arky did on the family tree.  And although I still had the genealogy files that he originally sent me, much has changed.  Births, deaths, marriages in the past 8 years have gone unrecorded (save the births of Jacob and Aaron).  Finally, the death of my Aunt Rose Katz, the last of her generation, prompted me to get the family tree back on the web.

So, for those who register, the Family Tree is once again available.  And I hope that family members will register, explore the family tree, and notify me of any inaccuracies, additions or deletions that need to ...

A quick note
By Gordon on 1/15/2007

The site has been updated and slightly re-designed.  I have added a bunch of pictures from several different family occasions and other random snapshots.  Take a look and enjoy.  I will bring the news of the family up-to-date in the very near future.

Career Excitement
By Gordon on 2/27/2006

Bonnie and I both had some career related excitement in the past week or so.  Last week, Bonnie found out that she won an Arbitron All Star award.  Along with the award comes an all-expense paid trip to the Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Florida.  She was very excited (and so was I).  We are looking forward to our first trip without children in 7 years.

I've also had some career related excitement.  Today I started a new job.  I will be a Senior Database Administrator for Laureate Education, Inc.  Laureate provides a university experience for full-time and working-adult students worldwide through its international network of accredited campus-based and online universities.  This is somewhat of a change for me, moving away from systems development and towards systems administration.  However, I have always had an interest in DBA roles, so this new job represents a fulfillment of that interest.

Updates at last
By Gordon on 12/6/2005

Life just moves to fast.  One minute its the start of the school year and the next minute we're planning our New Years Day open house.  Much has happened in the middle that I should have reported on, but I can't recall any specifics.  Its enough to say that all are well.

I've added a heap of new pictures going back to July 4.  Browse and enjoy!
